Coffees & Teas Great
Harvest Bread Co. is proud to offer Equator Estates Coffees
& Teas.
Anyone who knows much about coffee has heard of Equator Estates
Coffees & Teas, based in San Rafael, California. Founders
Brooke McDonnell and Helen Russell are mentioned frequently
in various news articles and reviews. As active writers and
acknowledged experts, both Brooke and Helen also author coffee
and tea-related articles for various publications. When Jeff
and Becci were preparing to open their GHBC, they knew the
people of Fresno were intellectual, coffee-drinking aficionados.
Although the name Equator Estates Coffee & Teas does not
carry with it the large corporate brand recognition, both
Jeff and Becci, after careful taste tests and investigation
of many coffee companies, were profoundly impressed by that
fact that The French Laundry, world-renowned Yountville restaurant,
serves Equator at its five-star establishment. We felt: If
it’s good enough for The French Laundry, it would be
an honor to serve it in our little bakery on Champlain and
Perrin!
We want to be certain our customers realize that Great Harvest
Bread Co. is committed to serving shade grown sustainable
coffee: Coffee that is grown amidst a canopy of indigenous
shade trees, or shade cover, in a manner that preserves the
natural habitat; Coffee cultivation that practices bio-friendly,
bio-diverse agriculture with emphasis on organic crop management;
Coffee farming that emphasizes quality through choice cultivars
and careful processing methods, strictly high grown coffee
with demonstrable cup character.
Specialty coffee is the most labor-intensive crop in the world.
Thousands of indigenous people are involved in the picking
and processing of specialty coffee. We support projects and
farms that promote quality and continuity of life for those
who produce specialty coffee.
